Valerie Yarashus is an attorney and partner at the Boston law firm of Meehan, Boyle, Black & Bogdanow, PC, where she concentrates on helping people who have been seriously injured, and families of people who have been killed as a result of someone else’s negligence or misconduct.
Valerie is a past president of both the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys. She has been selected numerous times as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Massachusetts and Top 50 Women Lawyers in Massachusetts. She has been listed in every edition of The Best Lawyers in America from 2005 to the present.
Valerie has cared about issues of homelessness ever since attending college in the District of Columbia many years ago. Valerie learned about HomeStart through her involvement in the Winter Walks to End Homelessness sponsored by her church over the years, and also through knowing people at a soup kitchen in Boston (where she volunteered) who spoke about their HomeStart experiences so favorably. She is excited to be on the Board of Directors because HomeStart offers the most successful and dynamic model she has seen for ending homelessness. She loves spending time with her four children, who are in elementary school, high school and college. She enjoys mentoring aspiring students and new lawyers, particularly women and people of color. Valerie is also very involved in working for safety-related changes to prevent injuries and deaths in the future for the kinds of cases that she handles.
